So as promised, I will tell you all about my first time finally in Paris and how it went from a great trip to a new city to Top 3 best trips I have ever taken!
You know when you make no plans and you somehow end up at the coolest place ever? That was pretty much the entire time in Paris. If NYC is Apple City, then Paris is Wine City. Fruit aged for the better. No rules needed, you can indulge and live in Paris. Dinner at 8, finishing the 3rd course at 11 and heading to a party at midnight (this is a weekday). The 35 hour workweek and never closing cafe’s, bars, brasseries, clubs… It was a dream. We thought since we were mostly visiting during the week the city would be calm but there was no problem any night to find late night entertainment, food, parties… some museums close at 2AM.
We arrived on Saturday afternoon leaving Switzerland that morning on the fast train to Paris. (Adventures on Snapchat, I follow back)
The weather was rainy and cold but we were happy to find a fancy Chipotle and stuff our face. I know not the best place to eat in Paris but we really love Chipotle and wanted to get out of the rain.
Hopping on and off, walking forever in underground tunnels to transfer from train to train.
Always travel by public transport.
Unless it is dangerous or not available we travel by public transport in every city we visit. You meet people, hear locals and see the underside of the city.
We made our way to Jardin des Tuileries, a walk through this historical and massive garden full of people napping in chairs, kids laughing and others eating baguettes; the scenery is lovely. At one end of the garden you can see the Louvre poking in the background and on the other end the Eiffel Tower.
The view of Paris is amazing, new and old architecture weave together with gardens, flowers and trees.
Then we walked around the neighborhoods and streets connecting to the famous Champs Elysèes (Paris Soundtrack).
Aux Champs Elysées.
The best part of Paris was enjoying how meals were so social and relaxed (and cheap). Every meal was fine dining for hours.
As we were leaving dinner at midnight this young man and woman in the metro say ” Excuse us, do you speak English?”
We say “Yeah!”
They proceed to ask us if we know where there are any parties because they are visiting Paris. We tell them we just left dinner and have only been in town for a day.
They tell us they know a spot their friend told them about but the last place only had 5 people. The place was at the end of the metro line so we wouldn’t get there till almost 1AM.
We said “why not?!”
And we all headed out to find out what this place called Titty Twister in Paris had to offer.
We kept our schedule loose so we could go on random adventures in the city.
We were met at the door by a big security style doorman, as soon as he heard our accents he waved over this skinny man with a strong French accent; dressed in all white with a mustache that looked eyeliner (something off of TV), his hair was all black and slicked back and he was wearing a red cape.
He asked us where are you from? The other two spoke for us all saying California. He looked us up and down and said in French to the bouncer let them 4 in…
The club was full of high fashion styles, skinny girls smoking cigarettes and guys in rock t-shirts. Unknowingly we just walked into the cool kids club. One of the exclusive night clubs in Paris… surrounded by models and club scene icons.
Our metro stopped running at 1 AM so we knew we would have to catch an Uber so I ask the model that is serving drinks what time they close and she tells me 6AM.
We left Monday Morning around 5:30 and as we pulled out our cell to see the closest uber we realized the trains had just started running again and took the first one home.
It was so fun, crazy, random!
Sorry this post is so long but I wish you were here just doesn’t cut it… I hope you feel like you partied with me!
