A wedding in a castle nestled in the South of France, I am pretty sure that is the premise for every happily ever-after, old school-Disney-princess movie. With wedding season chasing every 20 something-to-30 something through social media we are officially at that age… where every update is a wedding or a baby announcement. But does it get any sweeter than an invite to wedding in the South of France?
The wedding was gorgeous… as I suspected since she is in the fashion industry in Paris I think everyone knew to expect a classy affair and they did not disappoint.
My husband and I had a great time as I was sincerely stressed on what to wear to the wedding. My friends over at TM Lewin dropped me an email asking a few common wedding fashion stress questions and offering me some inspiration.
Use the venue and scenery as inspiration
I wanted something bright and fitting of the topical riviera setting. This salmon color is complimentary for both of our skin tone.
Coordinate couple’s outfits
I think couple’s look great when they coordinate, especially for weddings. I specifically avoided black and white!
Avoid sinister colors
Women should never wear white or red to someone else’s wedding. But rules are meant to be broken and two ladies did wear these colors, they looked great and the world didn’t end. The bride didn’t mind at all.
How do you choose a fit?
My husband likes a relaxed fit suit and the groom wore a very European style fit. I think for men it depends on their body type. Very slim European men look good in the skinny pants suit but my husband and I both agreed that look wasn’t for him.
For me, I opted for a more daring crop top and skirt style. I knew the wedding wasn’t taking place in a religious place (church, temple or synagogue) so I had no worries. The silhouette of my skirt was very formal but the fabric and crop top relaxed the look.
