I have been waiting all week to reveal the second must have item in the #SexySummer series. If you didn’t get a chance to see the first you can check it out HERE.
Technically I am revealing 2 statement trends this week in the series *drumroll please* It is the comeback of the bell bottoms and the culotte pants! This is a cautionary post because in my opinion neither of these pieces are easy to execute well, but can be worn by almost any body type. If you are very fashion forward and daring this will be a great transition for you.
This trend is great for an everyday look, the Everyday Eight Picks are below:
I am sure you have seen culottes on every IT Girl this season, just think really hard about the last side eye you gave, you may have thought they were high waters or an odd skirt; culottes are the child of the two. Culottes are pants meant to fall a little below knee length with full legs that resemble a skirt.
I predict for street style you will see culottes paired with crop tops. They work very well on…
- women with a narrower build
- women with broader shoulders or larger chest
Of course curvy women can style them too just pay attention to the shape. The Curvy Fashionista did a great job styling them HERE. Let me know in the comments below if you would like a post on styling this trend!
flared jeans, flared trousers, bell bottoms, whatever you prefer to call them- it is a fact, I love them. I have been debating with people about the bell bottom comeback statement all week. When I told my fiancé bell bottoms were making a comeback he had a stronger than usual reaction and said he would make a blog- Men’s Fashion for Woman, pretty much outlining what men would like women to wear, think Anti-New York Fashion Week and Bell Bottoms got the axe. I on the other hand can’t wait to wear both of these styles!
Bell Bottoms are nostalgic for me; reminiscent of Spice Girls and Girl Power campaigns. I had a pair of full glitter bell bottom jeans in the 5th grade that were in heavy rotation. I don’t plan to go as heavy into the look this time around, but I am excited to dig into the back of my closet and find out just how many I can still style for the current trend.
The bell bottom come back is much more subtle, more like a baby bell. You will be seeing these in mass production but don’t worry there will not be an exit of the skinny jean anytime soon!
