What I Learned in Paris at 27

May 9, 2016

Last year I shared  Top 10: Life Lessons Learned by my Mid-20’s and that is still one of my most popular post. Now a year later looking 27 dead in the eye I feel like this is a year of gratitude.

black fashion blogger expat paris france street styleToday is my birthday Name Day.

(for all you GOT fans)

Every year of life we face new challenges and rewards some years are better than others but they are all filled with blessings and lessons.

This last year has been full of ups and downs, highs and lows but through it all I never doubted my purpose. My husband and I are approaching one year married and adulthood is something that is finally less taunting.IMG_3057

I can’t believe I am already 27. If you are 19 and reading this trust me you are young and if you are 45 and reading this trust me you are young!

I look forward to growing old. I am excited for the wisdom 30 year old me will have, the experiences 45 year old me will have, the attitude 70 year old me will have… there is so much living to do.

black fashion blogger expat paris france street styleThere are babies to make, parties to attend, vacations to take and memories to laugh about.

Most of all I have learned Gratitude!

paris eiffel tower photo best park black fashion blogger expat paris france street styleIMG_3100I have always considered myself a humble person but I feel like I now understand what it means to be grateful.

All of the personal battles over the last year, I somehow had an internal voice always telling me… “well, that is life. Just believe me it will get better.” Faith and love were my best friends and I felt calm through dire situations and when I lost my cool my husband found his.

Taking a trip to Paris summarize this year for me. I saw refugees, beggars, scammers, and more. I also saw people open their wallets to help.

I saw hope and laughter in a place that has been hit by anger and hate through terrorism.

I saw life in the moment.

I am grateful for the experiences I have received in life, all of you that support me by just liking a photo, reading my ramblings and being nice to your fellow citizen.

At 27 I have learned how to be grateful and I will continue to learn.

  6. You are the first person in the blogsphere that I have come across is looking forward to having the wisdom when you’re 30 instead of lamenting about getting old. It’s so refreshing to read and know that, thank you. I love hitting 30, it was honestly one of the best time of my life as I finally learned to accept and love myself.

We are the same age, I will be 28 in August and I can’t begin to imagine where the time has gone. I remember when I was 20 and thinking gosh, I’m 20. I will be 30 soon. Age is truly but a number though and with it I have learned to be more grateful like you have, but also to be more appreciative of life, more calm, I don’t know, I guess I just feel the most comfortable I ever have done!
