I love spending my weekend with friends, drinking great wine and eating amazing food and that is exactly what I had the pleasure of doing this past weekend. I only recently began to appreciate wine and I like to explore the different types; let’s just say I’ve come along way from Moscato. So a wine festival is the perfect place to continue this exploration right in a quaint small town.
People are always discussing the difference between the suburbs and the city; well this weekend was certainly a suburb win. I went out to ultra suburbia on Saturday to enjoy the festivities of the King Farm Wine Festival. One reason I love the DMV region (DC, Maryland, Virginia) is because of the great diversity, the ambience could only be described as chill and all of the vineyards from the region came out to this super cute col de sac to sell their amazing wine! It was like a scene from Desperate Housiewives sans the drama.
It was $14 pre-sale, $18 day-of entry and you could taste all the wine, beer and sangria you want. My friends all brought food and we had a little picnic as we jammed to a cover bands and sipped on the bottles we purchased after making a
couple few rounds of tastings.
I will be celebrating my birthday at a larger wine festival, Vinofest in Washington, DC this Saturday May 9th after the walking in the Susan G. Komen Washington, DC Race. Don’t forget to enter the Surprise Birthday Giveaway I’ll do a full recap on both wine festivals next Wednesday.
Now, let’s get down to the outfit!
Keeping it causal- I am wearing a maxi dress (SIMILAR) that I knotted at the waist and at the bottom for a very different look and the the dye print creates a really nice illusion.
The jacket is Forever 21, (SIMILAR) I love a jacket. Since I am always cold & Forever 21 carries a decent selection of vegan leather jackets that are inexpensive, I seem to pair one with every outfit. You can find ones that do not come across as cheap! (it’s all about texture)
Michael Kors tote bag,(HERE) if you follow me on Instagram you have seen it before… It is the perfect wine festival carry-all and I was able to bring in a blanket to get comfy on as I stuffed my face 🙂
My shoes are a pair of Calvin Klein suede ballet flats. (SIMILAR)
As the sun began to set I untied the bottom knot on the dress for an even more relaxed look! all of my friends looked fabulous but unfortunately we did not get a group picture, it was well executed wine festival fashion!
Have you ever been to a wine festival? Any recommendations internationally?
